Forming Fabrics for Packaging Papers and Board
Andritz Kufferath supplies forming fabrics for the production of packaging papers and board on Fourdrinier machines, Multi-Fourdrinier machines, Hybrid Formers and Gap Formers.
Andritz Kufferath offers a comprehensive range of designs for the production of kraft sack paper, kraft liner, fluting, test liner, pulp board, folding boxboard and millboard grades. Extensive references are available for all machine types and production grades.
Kraft Sack Paper
Kraft sack paper is made on Fourdrinier paper machines, Hybrid Formers and Gap Formers.
High-grade kraft sack paper requires a high tensile strength, good surface quality and in some cases well-controlled porosity. Andritz Kufferath has been very successful in developing suitable fabrics for this application.
For lower grammages we offer Microflex® 207, Microflex® F 207, Geoflex® X 325 and Geoflex® R 307. For higher grammages Andritz Kufferath recommends Microflex® 208, Microflex® F 208 and Hegoflex® L 328.
Kraft liner
Andritz Kufferath offers a wide range of fabrics for the production of kraft liner.
Andritz Kufferath fabrics offer long lifetimes and give papermakers consistently good surface quality results.
For single-layer kraft sheets, as well as multi-ply kraft liner, all Andritz Kufferath fabric types are used. Andritz Kufferath's product recommendation depends on the specific requirements of each fabric position in terms of sheet strength properties, formation, drainage, retention, surface quality and drive load requirements.
Well-suited fabric designs for kraft liner production are the Microflex® 208, Microflex® F 207, Microflex® F 208, Microflex® L 216. For multi-ply kraft liner we recommend Microflex® 207, Microflex® 208, Microflex® F 207 or Microflex® F 208.
Fluting, Waste Paper Based Corrugating Medium
Forming fabrics for the production of fluting or waste based corrugating medium must meet the particular demands of the used furnish. Beyond the specific sheet strength requirements, it is very important that the fabric design helps prevent contamination-induced blinding.
Andritz Kufferath's most commonly used designs for Fourdrinier machines, Hybrid and Gap Formers are the Microflex® FL 216 and Hegoflex® L 328.
Testliner
Test liner is generally produced on Fourdrinier machines with Hybrid Formers plus secondary headboxes or on double-Fourdrinier machines. Alternatively, single Fourdrinier machines and Gap Formers with multi-layer headboxes are also used for this production grade.
The forming fabrics used must contribute to good sheet strength characteristics and good surface quality of the top layer.
Andritz Kufferath recommends Isoflex® 155/10, Microflex® F 207, Microflex® L 214 and Hegoflex® L 328 for the production of the top layer.
For the production of the back layer Andritz Kufferath recommends Isoflex® 155/10, Microflex® FL 216 and Hegoflex® L 328.
Pulp Board
For pulp board production Andritz Kufferath recommends double-and triple layer fabrics.
In most cases, pulp board is produced on Fourdrinier as well as multi-Fourdrinier machines combined with hybrid formers. Andritz Kufferath forming fabrics help papermakers achieve crucial board quality criteria such as surface quality, bending resistance and ply strength.
Andritz Kufferath recommends its Microflex® 207, Microflex® F 207, Microflex® F 208, Geoflex® X 325, Geoflex® R 307, Geoflex® RL 314.
Folding Boxboard
Folding boxboard is produced on multi-Fourdrinier machines and Hybrid Formers. Ply strength, bending resistance, surface quality and tensile strength are decisive quality factors.
Andritz Kufferath recommends its Microflex® 208 and Microflex® F 207 for the production of the top layer. For the inner ply, Isoflex® 155/10, Microflex® 208 and Microflex® FL 216 can be used.
Millboard
In millboard production forming fabrics are used on both Fourdrinier machines and Hybrid Formers.
For the production of single-layer board and for the drainage wire of Hybrid Formers Andritz Kufferath recommends the Simplex® 104 and Simplex® 105.
For the production of multilayer millboard Andritz Kufferath recommends the Isoflex® 155/10, Microflex® 208, Microflex® F 208, Microflex® FL 216 and Hegoflex® L 328.
